We are located at 918 N. Ninth Street in Van Buren, Arkansas.  We welcome all visitors to join us in prayer at our beautiful hilltop church. Short descriptions of our worship and programs follow.

TRADITIONAL WORSHIP

The Holy Communion, a regular part of our worship, has its origins in the Lord's Supper, which Jesus shared with his disciples. Our outline of worship includes the call to worship, praise to God, hearing God's word read and proclaimed, prayer and confession, offering, communion, and dismissal. This is a form of worship which dates back to the Church's earliest times. The Prayer Book, which is the Bible set to worship, is a descendant of Christian manuals of worship that are centuries old. Though our worship sources are ancient, our worship language is contemporary.

CHRIST CENTERED WORSHIP Trinity Episcopal Church Old Building

The focus of our worship is Jesus Christ, God's Son and our Savior. We celebrate the life of Jesus according to the seasons of the Christian calendar: Advent (expectation), Christmas (birth), Epiphany (making known Christ's Glory), Lent (repentance), Easter (resurrection), and Pentecost (discipleship).

BIBLE CENTERED WORSHIP

We believe the Bible to be God's Word, to contain all things necessary for salvation, to be a source of our beliefs and moral standards, and a lens through which we evaluate all other claims to truth. Our Sunday worship includes four Bible readings: from the Old Testament, the Psalms, the Epistles, and the Gospels

CORPORATE WORSHIP

We gather together, not as individuals but as the Body of Christ. We express our thanks, prayer, and praise with one heart, mind and voice with the use of the Hymnal and the Book of Common Prayer, which enable us to actively, not just passively, worship together.

PARTICIPATORY WORSHIP

The congregation participates in Worship by making responses, singing hymns and canticles, reciting the creed, saying the Psalms responsively, by praying in unison and by receiving communion. Worship is led not only by the Pastor, but also by the Lay Readers (those who read the Bible lessons during worship), Chalice Bearers (those who help administer communion), Acolytes (those who assist the pastor at the table), Choir, Ushers and Greeters.

SACRAMENTAL WORSHIP

Holy Communion is a regular part of our Sunday worship. All those who follow Jesus are welcome to receive communion. Sunday worship often includes Baptism (Christian Initiation) and Confirmation (an adult affirmation of faith). Other worship services revolve around Healing, Ordination, Marriage and Repentance.

REVERENT WORSHIP

We express ourselves not only in word but also in gesture. We enter and leave the Church in silence. We usually kneel to pray, stand to praise, and sit to be instructed. Other devotional gestures such as bowing, genuflecting and making the sign of the cross are optional.
